Chadwick Boseman Gives “Best Hero” Award to Real-Life Hero
Chadwick Boseman won the “Best Hero” award at the 2018 MTV Movie and Music Awards for his role as Black Panther. Boseman decided to give recognition to a real-life superhero by giving the award to James Shaw Jr.
Shaw disarmed an active shooter back in April at a Waffle House in Nashville. Officials later said that there would have been “greater bloodshed” had Shaw Jr. not intervened.
“Receiving an award for playing a superhero is amazing, but it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes that we have in real life,” he continued, as cameras panned to Shaw Jr. “So i just want to acknowledge somebody who’s here today — James Shaw Jr. If you don’t know James Shaw Jr, he fought off a gunman in Antioch, Tennessee, at a Waffle House to save lives.”
What a great moment to recognize Shaw’s heroic efforts, bravo to you Mr. Boseman for using your stage to promote good.
