Jon Hamm Interested in Playing Batman
On the same day that we hear rumors of Henry Cavill leaving the Superman role in the DCEU, there is chatter of someone wanting to take over the other major player in the DC Universe. In an interview with reporter Graham Bensinger on his YouTube series In Depth , Jon Hamm talks about his interest in playing Batman.
Hamm says he would take up the cape and cowl depending on the script and the story. He mentions he loved Black Panther and the FX show Legion and has been a fan of comic books since since he was 9 years old. “I’m pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them”, Hamm continues, “And I like the genre, and I like when they’re done well.”
There have been rumors of him playing Batman for years but he denies every being offered. Hamm says “I have never had a conversation with anybody about it, literally. And I’ve sat in the room with all these guys. I have never been offered anything. I think the internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the internet.”
Every week there is a new rumor or a new actor coming out saying they are interested in playing Batman but until WB/DC releases a statement about the new Matt Reeve’s Batman movie, Ben Affleck is still slated to play the Caped Crusader. In the meantime, it is fun to speculate and talk about who would be good as Batman (and as of today Superman).
If WB wanted to keep their current timeline in the DCEU, Jon Hamm would be a good replacement because they are similar in age and look but if they are looking to reboot the DCEU, it would be smart to skew younger for Batman, that is if they want to do a new shared universe.
What do you think of Jon Hamm playing Batman? Who else would you like to see be the Dark Knight? Let us know!
