Krypton Episode 5 Review
Seg is trapped out in the Outlands freezing after escaping from the Black Zero compound. Doubling back to the compound Seg finds a mysterious stranger, Raika, that leads him to Cynthanite people. The Cynthanites, worshippers of the ice goddess, seem to be purists of Krpyton and are not fans of the House of El. Seg helping Raika demonstrates the strength of House El and what his sigil can one day mean. Raika and the Cynthanites believe that an El are trouble revealing that Seg’s house has been capable of horrible atrocities in the past. However Seg appeals to Raika since she is in debt to him for saying her life. Once again Seg finds himself in the unforgiven nature of the Outlands believing that he is dead.
Lyta goes on trail for the “failure” of the Rankless Initiative. Her and Dex-Em have a heart to heart moment where she reveals that she does love him. Which forms an interesting love triangle between the two of them and Seg. Reminiscent of Seg’s grandfather’s trial Lyta is brought before the Sagittari to stand trial. In what she believes are her final moments she salutes her mother and prepares for her death. However in the nick of time, her mother agrees to Nyssa’s plea and decides to save her daughter from execution.
The Vexes worry about the momentum of their rebellion after Nyssa revealed their plans to Jayna. Daron is concerned that all they have wrought will collapse if Jayna comes forward to the Voice of Rao and Nyssa believes she’s doing the right theming to further their cause.
The episode was truly a Zod centric story. Jayna’s backstory shows her convictions for her duty and honor. She reflects back on her time when she earned the name Zod in a test against her brother. She contemplates her past decisions as she struggles with the choice of saving her daughter through Nyssa’s proposal. After making the decisions in to save her daughter, Jayna now questions her honor and duty now claiming Lyta to be her greatest shame.
Seg finally is able to get through to Adam who goes to Lyta for help recovering him. The two set out to find Seg, however the leader of Black Zero finds him first. After a confrontation between the two groups, Lyta learns that he is her son, General Zod.
The twist of this story just keep coming making it such a good to watch and enjoy.
