Netflix acquired Mark Millar’s comic imprint “Millarworld” last year and “Jupiter’s legacy” will be their first on-screen adaptation of one of his comic series. Netflix also plans on adapting Millar’s other works including, “American Jesus”, “Huck” and “Empress”.
In June of 2018, Netflix started publishing their first ever comic book series, “The Magic Order”, by writer Mark Millar and artist Olivier Coipel.
When Netflix first acquired Millarworld last year, I was very excited to see what the results would be. No matter what you think of Millar’s writing, its interesting to see a giant content creator like Netflix get in on the comic book superhero fever we are going through now.
Although Netflix has had success with Marvel’s superheros like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones on their platform, its smart for them to own content from Mark Millar. Disney, who owns Marvel, is currently building their own streaming service, so the days may be numbered for being able to see any Marvel superheros on Netflix.
Let us know how you think the “Jupiter’s Legacy” will turn out.
